QUIET SPEC - Muffler Axleback

Quiet Spec muffler version axleback for the 2022+ Subaru WRX. This version was developed for users who want a subtle exhaust note. Exudes an exhaust note during accelerate/ deceleration and quiet at constant throttle (steady speed cruising). Features large oval muffler canisters, and quad 4" double wall tips. The same mufflers and tips used on our Sports Touring catback system. These mufflers have a similar shape to our original muffler version axleback but the canisters are wider, and have a larger volume. In general larger volume means more sound suppression, aka quieter.

  • 304 Stainless Steel construction
  • High flow straight through design oval muffler canisters, kit includes right and left side
  • Quad 4" double wall tips. Available in polished or burnt finish
  • Each muffler has a 2.5" inlet which bolts to the factory midpipe or to our performance OEM layout midpipe kits, LINK
  • Fully polished muffler canisters. TIG welded construction which yields a tidy and an aesthetically pleasing weld

Difference to the Sports Touring catback
This is the axleback form of the Sports Touring catback. The difference is in the shape and position of the flanges of the inlet pipes. This version is compatible with OEM midpipe or one of three versions of our high flow midpipe kits (2.5" resonated/ 3" resonated/ 3" non-resonated).
If you are sure you want a full catback system, our Sports Touring system is ideal with a less total cost as a full catback, piping layout which is tucked up higher and provides optimal flow (less bends, and softer angles).
The advantage to this axleback kit is interchangeability between OEM midpipe, high flow midpipes, and ease of swapping to a different axleback kit. The Sports Touring has no interchangeability.

Just Enough!

When buying my '23 WRX, I was shocked as the salesman pulled it around for test drive and rhe cold start was rattling windows lol!

I looked at exhaust options for over a year, but with cold start in mind was reluctant to add much additional volume. I really only wanted some additional sound when driving to help with high rpm shifting (by ear vs the tach) and rev matching on downshifts.

These axle backs do just that. Cold start is similar volume but not nearly as raspy. There is a touch of resonance at 2.5-3k rpm but it's not any worse than the off throttle idle down resonance with the stock mufflers.

Rev matching is way more fun now that I can better hear the car. And when you just want to cruise into the neighborhood, at steady state low throttle, the exhaust is very quiet.

Nice to also have the flexibility to move to a full catback down the road if needed.

Great exhaust, great experience ordering from remark direct, and easy install!

Perfect Sound

Overall -
Very pleased with this purchase. It's actually a shame that it took so long since the introduction of the VB for someone to come along and make "OEM+" style mufflers (not all of us need or want to buy a full catback system).

Sound -
For those of us who don't want to be obnoxious, but want something louder than stock. These mufflers work perfectly as advertised. They're a bit louder than stock, but probably won't wake the neighbors up on cold starts. Steady-state cruise is almost silent (perfect for highway commutes). Acceleration is refined, and decel is noticeable but doesn't drone. Compared to 5" Nameless Performance mufflers, these eliminate the highway drone and keep things tame around town. These have a sound much more akin to a "Magnaflow style" packed muffler if you're familiar. Not a raspy small muffler or muffler delete.

Finish -
Remark did a great job with the finish on these. They're a near-mirror polish on the mufflers and exhaust tips. The branding is minor, and the serialization on each muffler is a nice touch.

Fit-
Fitting these is where I had a bit of trouble. Essentially, I ran out of adjustment, even with loosening the midpipe. The tips were touching the bumper no matter how hard I tried to adjust the flanges (with 2 people).
I resolved this by replacing my exhaust hangers with a slightly longer hole-spacing option. Now there's about 1/8" of clearance between the top of the tips and the bumper.
My only other gripe (nothing to do with Remark), is that 4" tips on these cars are typically touching or tack-welded together. This allows small stones and debris to collect in the V between each set of tips. Over time, that will mar the finish if that's something you care about.
On a positive note, other brands have tips that stick out an inch or more past the bumper, whereas these sit flush. It's a lot classier than some other options on the market. Also - the addition of composite flange gaskets goes a long way in helping to seal against a warped midpipe flange.

Very nice mild mufflers

At 70 MPH highway driving these are quieter/ no drone vs the stock mufflers. Around town you hear these mufflers vs not hearing the stock mufflers. However, around town you hear them but you do not have that boomy drone. Turn WRX radio to like 10-12 volume you don't hear the mufflers anymore. Very easy install. If you are good at hand tools, once car is jacked off the ground took me less than 15 minutes per side to remove old ones and install these. Had no leaks. Have a beautiful mirror finish on them. I am impressed with Remark I will in the future pickup their mid pipe that goes with the mufflers. Much higher quality than OEM.
