Our midpipe kit for the Lexus IS500 features dual high flow EPA approved catalytic converters. Offered with dual straight through resonators or without. Improves exhaust gas flow over the OEM midpipe which is smaller and more restrictive.
2.5" mandrel bent piping with H-pipe design. Easy bolt-on design. No cutting, no modification needed. Each kit utilizes two 400 cell, metal core, high flow catalytic converters. These units are EPA approved.
As with most high flow, less restrictive exhaust components, the addition of this midpipe kit will increase the exhaust volume whether you are pairing with OEM mufflers, or aftermarket axleback kit.
We tested both versions with our axleback kit, and the sound of the 5.0L V8 really shines.
Axleback + Resonated Midpipe: A deep satisfying sound at low rpm but not overly loud. At cruising, there is an exhaust note but it is not overbearing or annoying. When you plant your foot into the throttle, you get the exhaust note AND the beautiful sound from of the intake plenum. The combo is Lexus V8 music.
Axleback + Non-Resonated Midpipe: Recommended for those who like it loud, aggressive, and want to standout from the crowd. There is no way your IS500 would be mistaken for the V6 model. More ideal for driver's who prefer to use the manual transmission mode. By changing gears yourself, you can really control the engine/ exhaust note. The V8 sounds glorious and unrestricted. At higher RPM the mix of air rushing into the motor, and exhaust exiting is thrilling. Not grandpa's Lexus. Not for those parked in the garage and trying not to wake the kids.
